So Why a Blog and YouTube

I have over the past few months been involved with supporting others with Mental Health, come to acceptance of their condition, understand their condition, and make moves forwards. This is not the first time I’ve found myself doing this, so I thought why not share my experiences, now I am also not a woe is me kind of person so a blog solely about my mental health, although potentially useful for others (maybe not), was not something that I would be motivated to continue.

Thus as my MH improved and I started playing more Multiplayer games, and got involved in the Bloodbowl leagues, I started recording the matches for my own enjoyment, and then thought well others may find this interesting, some of them may also be struggling with Mental Health and not know where to find help, as I didn’t originally, so why not have a combined blog, a little bit of Mental Health, a little bit of music and as it has turned out a whole lot of gaming.

I really see this as the modern equivalent of the old AM radio as used in Pump up the volume.. as the main character said “My dumb dad got me this shortwave radio set so I could just talk to my buddies back east.”.. well I made a promise to my daughter that me doing this would not embarrass her, so I can’t live stream , or do voice overs on my videos, thus I came up this idea of the Blog (so I can communicate/broadcast) and the YouTube videos to give people something to watch etc.

I am also purposefully breaking the trend on YouTube, by producing full length unedited game play videos, I am doing this so people can see how the games work and potentially spot things I may not that are of interest.

I created this blog as a place to discuss Mental health issues. I chose to include Music ,PC Gaming videos and more recently tabletop gaming as all of these have helped with the management of my Mental Health and I thought people who find the Blog for these may also find the Mental Health resources useful. I am aware that a lot of people with Mental Health concerns are not aware that this is what they have or how to go about getting help, I know I was one of these people for at least 10 years. Therefore if one person is helped by the content on my Blog, if one person discovers the blog and gets a better understanding of Mental Health through the videos I post, then all the work will have been worthwhile. If not.. well I am enjoying making the videos and writing the blog, and doing things I enjoy helps my mental health so call it a self serving therapy.
