I’ve been watching the Vikings series on Amazon recently and there have been a couple of great lines/thoughts
The one that triggered this post was from Floki the boat builder, EP8 S402
“I wish I could say .. I don’t want to be imprecise.. No.. it is a truth.. I just don’t know what the truth is .. the gods have not revealed it to me.. not yet anyway”
The whole, “it is a truth that I don’t know yet”, resonated with me.
This has been a great series, Yes I know it is historically inaccurate, but hey it has been engaging.
Another of the great lines was from Siggy ..
“It Is Always A Strength To Know The Weakness Of Your Friends.”
I also appreciated Ragnars
“Power Is Always Dangerous. It Attracts The Worst And Corrupts The Best.”
and
“Don’t Waste Your Time Looking Back. You Are Not Going That Way.”
this one is such a quote/comment of these times.
and also the ever deep
“Power Is Only Given To Those Who Are Willing To Lower Themselves To Pick It Up.”
I loved the way that throughout the series Ragnar hated the power he had, and the responsibility that came with it, whilst truly wishing to just find good farming land to feed his people.
And another classic From Ragnar
“I would worry less about the gods and more about the fury of a patient man.”
and from Lagetha
“We have one life… so go and live it.”
From Harbard an ever true comment..
“Possession is the opposite of love.
And finally the one that hooked me – Ragnar
“I don’t believe in the gods’ existence. Man is the master of his own fate, not the gods. The gods are man’s creation to give answers that they are too afraid to give themselves.”
This was a great program with both powerful and influential men and women, ok and a wild take on history.
Having enjoyed this I’ve dusted off my old miniature paints and I am looking forward to playing SAGA.
