WW2 – More Germans

I treated myself to the Band of Brothers starter set and I am slowly working through the figures.

To day I bring you the German Grenadiers from the Band of Brothers set. I will then look at how these enhance the lists I can make using my existing figures and these new additions.

So first up the German Grenadiers – I built 3 LMG teams to provide extra firepower for my German Sentries from 02 Hundred Hours.

LMG Team 1

LMG Team 2

LMG Team 3

An extra Officer/NCO and NCO/Observer/Spotter

And 4 more Rifle Men

So starting with just the German figures from 02 Hundred hours, my free sprue of Panzer Lehr and these extra 12 this gives me the following available

  • The 6 metal characters
    • 1 scientist – who could be either allied or German
    • 1 Commandant with pistol
    • 1 Gestapo Officer with pistol
    • 1 wounded officer with SMG
    • 1 Sleepy Sentry with rifle
    • 1 female adjutant with rifle.
  • 5 Sentries with gas masks – 2 with SMG and 3 with rifles
  • 6 Feldgendarmes (Military Police) – 4 with rifle 2 with SMG
  • 18 – German Sentries – 12 with Rifles 5 with SMG 1 with LMG
  • 2 officer/nco with pistol
  • 4 – 2 man LMG teams
  • 1 officer with SMG
  • 1 Spotter/nco with rifle
  • 4 German Riflemen.
  • 3 German Infantry with SMG

This gives me a 928 point list – with 5 Herr infantry squads – 3 with LMGs and 2 Waffen-SS squads 1 with an LMG, as before this could be further increased by giving any or all squads Anti-Tank grenades as well. The list is still missing any form of support troops and equipment.

So if we have a look at the 3d Printed Germans I also have, this gives me the following to include

  • 1 MMG team
  • 1 Medium Mortar Team
  • 1 Light Mortar team
  • 1 Panzerschreck team
  • 1 AT Rifle Team
  • 1 Pak-36/40 at gun
  • 2 infantry with Panzerfausts
  • 1 Sniper team
  • An extra Medic
  • An extra Forward Observer
  • and an Extra NCO
  • Also a squad of 4 Riflemen, 1 NCO and 2 StG44’s

Equipment wise these are much more mid/late war. We now have nearly 1200 points – by adding the medium mortar + spotter (Extra FO), 1 extra man in the medic team, 1 AT rifle, 1 MMG, 1 Pak 36 and 6 more infantry.

Lets see what type of list we get if we jump forward to 1943/44 Defence of Italy – we can now include the Panzerschreck, the Sniper team, upgrade the PAK36 to a PAK38, Include the STG44’s and Panzerfausts. I have chosen to take 4 Heer Grenadier Squads and 1 Veteran Heer Grenadier Squad, this gives me 1313 pts which of course could be increased by giving the Heer Grenadier Squads anti tank grenades. I will also have a Sdkfz 251/9 (once I have built it and painted it) from the Band of Brothers starter set, which ups the Points to 1,469.

I am looking at getting a box of the German Infantry (winter) to enable me to field a more Late war force, and I have a box of the Wargames Atlantic Partisans which I am considering building to be Volkstrum. Once these are done I’ll share them with you.

I created this blog as a place to discuss Mental health issues. I chose to include Music ,PC Gaming videos and more recently tabletop gaming as all of these have helped with the management of my Mental Health and I thought people who find the Blog for these may also find the Mental Health resources useful. I am aware that a lot of people with Mental Health concerns are not aware that this is what they have or how to go about getting help, I know I was one of these people for at least 10 years. Therefore if one person is helped by the content on my Blog, if one person discovers the blog and gets a better understanding of Mental Health through the videos I post, then all the work will have been worthwhile. If not.. well I am enjoying making the videos and writing the blog, and doing things I enjoy helps my mental health so call it a self serving therapy.
