<<<< update – great escape games have now added the specific cards to their shop, they come along with the Stranger and Bushwhackers cards, I have not got a copy of them so I am keeping up my suggestion below as well >>>>

Now the only real problem with this gang is it’s gang specific cards – it says in the free download you can buy them from Great Escape Games – however there are NO specific cards for sale. In the write up though it says they do use the RED CARDS – so I’d say you could chose from any of the Gangs that use red – these are.

So if you’d like to learn more about the history behind this gang check out WIKIPEDIA.

There is no specific model set for this gang – but in my mind I think of the Yankee Red legs from the Outlaw Josey Whales.

The Jayhawkers are introduced in Ride with the Devil

On the western frontier of Missouri, the American Civil War was fought not be armies, but by neighbours.

Informal Gangs of local southern Bushwhackers fought a bloody and desperate guerrilla war against the occupying Union Army and pro-Union Jayhawkers.

ride with the devil – Great escape games

The JayHawkers have 4 model types available (yes these are identical to the Bushwackers)

CAPTAIN – the gang must have 1 of these and they are armed with a pistol and a sword.

SERGEANT – this is an optional model type but a gang can take upto 1, who is then armed with 1 pistol.

GUERILLAS – the gang must have at least 2 of these, they can be armed with a pistol ,musket or repeating rifle. Remember like most gangs at least 50% must be with a pistol as their sole ranged weapon.

RUFFIANS – the gang can include upto 4 of these and they are armed with pistols, muskets or repeating rifles.

I can hear you say what is a musket? .. Well a Musket is a single shot weapon with ranges like a Repeating rifle but it goes out of ammo after each shot. WHAT you say – so why would you use it?. Well if you don’t automatically take a character out of action it always causes an under fire marker and nerve test result. So basically any thing that isn’t a 19+ is counted at a 15-18 now that is worth an out of ammo token in my book.

They have 2 special rules are

  • REPEATERS – any musket armed troops may replace their musket with a repeater rifle. (I have actually incorporated this into the write up on the 4 options)
  • BLOOD FEUD – at the start of the GAME nominate 1 enemy model – all shots against this model are at +1 for the rest of the game.

The JAYHAWKERS are quite an interesting gang with the option of 50% having either MUSKETS or REPEATING RIFLES, my initial reaction to this would be to always bring 4 RUFFIANS 2 with MUSKETS and 2 with REPEATING RIFLES, to use as a back stop firing line.

I created this blog as a place to discuss Mental health issues. I chose to include Music ,PC Gaming videos and more recently tabletop gaming as all of these have helped with the management of my Mental Health and I thought people who find the Blog for these may also find the Mental Health resources useful. I am aware that a lot of people with Mental Health concerns are not aware that this is what they have or how to go about getting help, I know I was one of these people for at least 10 years. Therefore if one person is helped by the content on my Blog, if one person discovers the blog and gets a better understanding of Mental Health through the videos I post, then all the work will have been worthwhile. If not.. well I am enjoying making the videos and writing the blog, and doing things I enjoy helps my mental health so call it a self serving therapy.
