Emotional Abuse?

When will we start taking emotional abuse seriously? Or When will we start to actually recognize it when we see and hear it. I feel we still need centuries to be able to identify, acknowledge and validate mental/emotional/psychological abuse. Maybe we see it, deep down we feel something wrong is happening to someone. But as […]

Emotional Abuse?

This is an important point – emotional abuse occurs at many levels – I personally have been lucky enough not to have been a victim of it – and the word is victim- those who impart/cause emotional abuse are bullies and abusers, those who suffer it are victims.

I have family members and friends who have suffered at the hands of emotional abusers, it is an insidious and cowardly behaviour, of a weak person against a potentially strong person. To survive emotional abuse the sufferer needs to be a strong person, or else they would sink to replicating the abusers behaviour and actions, to not mirror then in defence is to show extreme strength.

Only the weak abuse others either emotionally or physically, emotional abuse is no better or worse than physical abuse, it is just less visible.

If you ever experience a once strong person become subservient and submissive to their partner, and act in ways counter to their previous ways, take them aside and offer them a safe place to talk. Like all abuse, until the sufferer admits there is an issue, they cannot face it, but they also need to be in the right place and time to admit it. Until they are ready to accept help, you cannot force help on them, nor bully them to accept it, otherwise you are no better than their original abuser.

Abuse is defined as any action that intentionally harms or injures another person. … In short, someone who purposely harms another in any way is committing abuse. Thus if you intentionally harm a victim of abuse by forcing them to acknowledge it, and act against it, you are harming them, thus you are further abusing them.

I created this blog as a place to discuss Mental health issues. I chose to include Music ,PC Gaming videos and more recently tabletop gaming as all of these have helped with the management of my Mental Health and I thought people who find the Blog for these may also find the Mental Health resources useful. I am aware that a lot of people with Mental Health concerns are not aware that this is what they have or how to go about getting help, I know I was one of these people for at least 10 years. Therefore if one person is helped by the content on my Blog, if one person discovers the blog and gets a better understanding of Mental Health through the videos I post, then all the work will have been worthwhile. If not.. well I am enjoying making the videos and writing the blog, and doing things I enjoy helps my mental health so call it a self serving therapy.
